Aircraft leasing is a type of leasing for aircraft.
There is a special type of operating lease - wet leasing, when an aircraft is leased together with the crew. That is, when an airline leases an aircraft, the full crew of the aircraft, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) to another airline or other business that acts as an air travel broker that pays for management by the hour. The renter provides fuel, the fees also include airport taxes, any other duties, taxes, etc. The renter's flight number is used. Wet leasing usually lasts 1-24 months; a shorter rental period will be treated as a short-term charter flight on request. Wet leasing is usually used during peak transport seasons, during annual mass inspections of technical condition or when starting new routes. Aircraft obtained through wet leasing can be provided with air transportation services in those countries where the lessee is prohibited from working.
Dry leasing is a leasing agreement where a company provides an aircraft without insurance, crew, ground personnel, auxiliary equipment, maintenance, etc. Dry leasing is usually used by leasing companies and banks, requiring the lessee to supply the aircraft for a certificate operator and ensure the registration of the aircraft. Typically dry leases last more than two years and are subject to certain conditions in relation to depreciation, maintenance, insurance, etc., depending on geographic location, political circumstances, etc. A dry lease agreement can be concluded between a major airline and a regional airline in which the regional operator provides flight crews with maintenance and other aspects for the operation of the aircraft.
