Glasses

Organic glass in the details of glazing aircraft are considered along with metal materials as power structural materials in structures on the outer contour of the aircraft and belong to a group of materials whose destruction leads to a catastrophe. They must meet the requirements of high structural strength in a wide range of operating temperatures, reliability and basic functional requirement - high light transmission without optical distortion. Aircraft and helicopters glazed with single-layer or multi-layer materials based on organic and silicate glasses. Products and it are obtained by vacuum molding, pneumoforming and stamping in the temperature range between glass transition temperatures and thermal stability. The method of cold forming at a temperature below the glass transition temperature is also used. Aviation organic glass has high transparency, good lightfastness, frost resistance, benzo and oil resistance, non-flammability, i.e. fire resistance (burns slowly). Having high strength, it is well bent, glued, welded and subjected to all kinds of machining. During operation, the glazing of aircraft is exposed to high stresses from aerodynamic forces, temperature changes, moisture, ultraviolet irradiation, acting in various combinations. All these factors influence and change the properties of glasses.
